This is a half-music, half-personal blog. I like to post at least one song a day that some of you might not be completely familiar with and may hopefully enjoy. However, I'm too lazy to create another blog, so this is also my place to bitch about anything that's been swirling in my head. I may separate the two in the future, but for now, enjoy the dichotomy.

The Caretaker - All You Are Going to Want to Do Is Get Back There

This album by The Caretaker combine several different things that I love. While I’m on torn with how sampling and looping are done by bands these days, The Caretaker take it to a much more different and refreshing level. What stands out in this album is the throw back to the rag time, big band, or kind of 30’s “ballroom” esque kind of sound. The looping samples are filled with the cracks and ripples you’d expect to hear off an incredibly aged vinyl, and the old time era musical direction create a feeling similar to playing a dusty vinyl you found in your grandmother’s attic.

I love the “old time” kind of sounds and I love the feel of this album more than any other sample based record this past year. Very relaxing, very nostalgic, an overall incredibly enjoyable experience.
